What is Askarr?

Askarr is a media request automation platform designed to simplify how users request movies and TV shows for Plex/Jellyfin servers. It integrates with Sonarr and Radarr, making the setup process quick and easy without requiring complex configurations.

Askarr’s main advantage is its simplicity and speed of setup. Unlike many systems, it doesn’t require Docker, port forwarding, SSL certificate configuration, database management, firewall rules, or complicated user permission setups.
You don’t “install” Askarr in the traditional sense on your server. You configure it by adding a custom URL, provided by Askarr, into the “custom lists” section of your existing Sonarr and Radarr installations. After signing up, you’ll get a custom request list URL; simply paste that URL into the “Custom Lists” section.
No, Askarr is designed to be user-friendly. The slogan “So simple, even Grandma can use it” highlights its ease of use. You don’t need to manage databases, SSL, Docker, or complex configurations. If you can copy and paste a URL into Sonarr or Radarr, you’re good to go.
You simply share a custom link (provided in your Askarr dashboard) with your users. They use this link to access a search interface where they can find and request media. Share that link via email, social media, Discord, or however you communicate with your audience.
Standard Sonarr/Radarr custom list sync times can be slow (Sonarr every 6 hours, Radarr every 12 hours). To address this, Askarr offers the “Askarr List Monitor,” a portable taskbar app that can reduce sync times to as low as 5 minutes.
