Privacy policy

Askarr is built around a clear principle: your media server stays entirely within your home network. This privacy policy explains what information Askarr collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.

What Askarr stores

To provide the service, Askarr stores only the minimum necessary data:

  • Your Connections account ID, display name, and profile photo URL provided during sign-in.
  • The movie and show titles you request, along with their fulfillment status.
  • The name, platform, app version, and last check-in timestamp of each linked Monitor.
  • A secure cryptographic hash of each Monitor token. Plain tokens are never stored.
  • Your current subscription plan and billing status.
  • The suggestions you post and the votes you cast on the feature board.
  • For accounts from the earlier version of Askarr only: a one-way hash of that account's email address, used once to hand the old account and its requests to you when you first sign in with the same verified email.

What Askarr does not store

Askarr is designed to protect your privacy and security. Askarr never stores:

  • Your email address or account passwords.
  • Your credit card numbers or billing details.
  • Your Radarr or Sonarr API keys, URLs, local network credentials, or library contents.

Who processes data

Askarr relies on trusted third-party providers for specific infrastructure and services:

  • Connections for secure sign-in and account authentication.
  • Stripe for secure credit card payment processing via Connections Pay. Askarr holds no Stripe secret keys.
  • TMDB for movie and TV show metadata, synopses, and poster images.
  • Cloudflare for web hosting, edge routing, and database infrastructure.
  • Google Analytics for anonymous site usage statistics.
  • Connections Analytics for anonymous page-view statistics. It honours Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control, and asks first where the law requires it.

Cookies

Askarr uses a small number of essential and analytics cookies:

  • One secure session cookie set after you sign in to keep you authenticated.
  • A short-lived sign-in state cookie used during the secure authentication handshake.
  • Standard cookies set by Google Analytics for site statistics.
  • One anonymous visitor cookie set by Connections Analytics (argus_anon), so a return visit is not counted as a new visitor.

Your choices

You are always in control of your data:

  • You can sign out any linked Monitor at any time directly from your dashboard.
  • To delete your account and all associated data, contact Askarr via the Discord community.
